Duales Education

Every year we offer a number of applicants the option of participating in a dual education programme, i.e., combining on-the-job training with academic instruction. Are you open-minded, enthusiastic, target-oriented, reliable and enjoy working in a team? Then apply now!

The vocational training as a mechatronics technician is combined with a mechanical engineering degree, ensuring that you gain practical experience in the fields of electrical engineering, electronics and mechanics, while also learning how to work in engineering terms by developing and constructing mechatronic systems.

Training period
4.5 years (9 semester)

Your qualifications
Above-average graduation from a (prevocational) secondary school
Strong willingness to learn, self-reliance, determination, interest in technical complexities, good organisational skills, proficient in English

Industrial engineers serve as the interface between the economics and technology departments, and as a graduate of a dual education programme you are well-prepared to enter this profession. On-the-job business administration training or technical training is followed by academic studies in science to complement your knowledge base and to well-prepare and qualify you for the tasks at technotrans.

Training period
3 years (6 semesters)

Your qualification
Above-average graduation from a (prevocational) secondary school
Strong willingness to learn, self-reliance, determination, appreciation for technical and economic complexities, proficient in English

Your comprehensive training to become an electrical engineer is paralleled by academic studies in science, allowing you to earn the professional qualification within 2.5 years. Academic studies begin with the second year of vocational training and serve to complement your knowledge about the production of mechanical, electrical and electronic components, with scientific expertise in the field of electrical engineering.

Training period
4 years (8 semesters)

Your qualifications
Above-average A levels from a (prevocational) secondary school
Strong willingness to learn, self-reliance, determination, appreciation for technical complexities, proficient in English, good organisational skills

By combining vocational training with academic studies, technotrans meets the preference for academic studies that relate to practical application. Administration and economic academies and universities of applied sciences impart business administration theories, which you will put into practice in your daily work routine while deepening and broadening the knowledge acquired from vocational training in academic studies.

Training period

3.5 years (7 semesters)

Your qualifications
Above-average graduation from a prevocational technical school or A levels
Good IT skills, ability to work in a team, self-reliance, open-minded, good perception, strong willingness to learn, proficient in English

Academic studies and vocational training to become an industrial management assistant begin at the same time so that during the first 1.5 years of this education programme you will receive on-the-job training in all business administration activities such as planning, organisation and controlling in parallel to academic studies at an administration and economic academy. Scientific expertise will complement and broaden your knowledge base during the further course of studies.

Training period
3.5 years (7 semesters)

Your qualifications
Above-average A levels from a (prevocational) secondary school
Strong willingness to learn, self-reliance, commitment, determination, friendly demeanour, ability to work in a team, proficient in English, good organisational skills

Internship

Every year, we offer school students a number of internships with an opportunity to learn more about technotrans, to encourage young talent at an early stage and help them choose a career later on.

Gain first insights into our company

Internships are basically conceivable in any company department – you are welcome to submit your unsolicited application, even if no vacancies are posted.

We have had numerous positive experiences with our interns in the past few years, and often they opted to register for a vocational training programme at technotrans. We have summarised the most important information regarding internships below.

Minimum age
The minimum age for an internship at technotrans is 14 years.

Internship duration
We are flexible when it comes to the duration of an internship, and we try to accommodate individual preferences when scheduling the time for the internship. We are depending on the capacities of the relevant departments, however.

Application process
Any type of application is welcome, regardless of whether you choose to send it by e-mail or mail – applications received using our online application form are, however, given preference.

Documents
It is important that the received application is complete, i.e., the preferred location and period for the internship must be indicated and a cover letter, a curriculum vitae, and the most recent school report must be included.

Processing
We take all incoming applications into account and we will inform you on the status of the application, even in the case of a rejection.

Events
We regularly organise Girls' and Boys' Days in cooperation with schools, where students get to know our company for a day. Furthermore, we are offering professional field exploration days and trial internships.

Contacts
Are you interested in an internship or need more information? Then please contact the contact persons indicated below!

Questions from school
students and parents

We make every effort to ensure transparency and open communication on equal terms. We have prepared a list of frequently asked questions and the appropriate answers, detailing some of the most important information, to answer some questions and concerns beforehand.

Apprentices at technotrans are entitled to 30 days of leave per year. For the first and final years, this entitlement is calculated proportionately according to the days worked in the given year. Students are entitled to an additional 30-day educational vacation, which can be taken freely.

Requirements for an apprenticeship shortened by six months during the training:

  1. The scholastic performance in the subjects relevant to the final exam must correspond to a minimum grade average of 2.5. The grade 4.0 or better must be achieved in all of subjects.
  2. The interim exam must be passed with a grade of 2.5 or higher.
  3. The company-relevant performance must be above-average and it must be possible to convey all company learning content within the shortened period.

Requirements for the shortened training period to be met in advance:

There is proof of: an advanced vocational certificate of education, an Abitur or the A levels, or an already completed vocational training programme. The training period can also be shortened when a vocational training programme is being continued, or when professional experience has already been gained in the relevant profession.

From our point of view, there are no clear advantages of a dual education programme compared to a conventional vocational training programme. There are many students who have first completed vocational training and later signed up for academic studies in the relevant field.

This approach lengthens the overall training period, but it gives the trainee the opportunity to determine during the vocational training whether they have made the right career choice, and then focus on their studies.

Succeeding in a dual education programme is a lot more demanding because it requires attendance at a vocational school, working in the company and pursuing academic studies. The chances of moving up the career ladder are the same either way.

We prefer applications submitted via our online application system. Naturally, we also accept applications submitted by conventional means. In this case, we will digitalise your documents and further process them. The same evaluation criteria apply to all applications.

There are several advisers throughout the vocational training programme to support the apprentices. The first point of contact is the respective training supervisor, who is always available to answer questions. Every apprentice is also supported by a mentor and a coach. The mentor would be a longstanding employee at technotrans who is very familiar with the company. The coach would be a senior apprentice assigned to the freshman apprentice.

The application process for the following year typically starts during the summer holidays of the previous year.

The fields of mechanical engineering and electrical engineering are combined in both occupations. These fields are taught in detail during the vocational training programme to become a mechatronics technician. The apprentice undergoing training to become a mechatronics technician for refrigeration technology receives additional instruction on the subject of air conditioning and refrigeration technology. The department where you would be working upon successful completion of training is the same for both occupations.

We are offering additional in-house classes on electrical engineering for relevant training fields, classes in our training centre on refrigeration technology, in-house classes in the field of drafting, as well as exam preparation in the corresponding occupational fields. Classes held within the company are mainly focused on practical application. Additional projects are being offered in the fields of electrical engineering, for example, to those who are particularly interested or excel in given subjects.
