29 young professionals begin their vocational training at technotrans

• Practice-oriented training fosters team spirit and enthusiasm

• Trainee project “pinball machine” becomes a trade fair highlight

• Successful recruitment through social media and school partnerships

As the new training year begins, 29 young people across the Group are launching their careers at technotrans. The thermal management specialist trains its future professionals at its headquarters in Sassenberg, as well as at sites in Meinerzhagen, Holzwickede, Bad Doberan and Baden-Baden. Despite the growing shortage of skilled labour, technotrans has once again succeeded in filling the majority of its training positions at an early stage. With a total of more than 130 apprentices, the Group continues to consistently invest in developing its own young talent through in-house training programmes.

The new trainees can look forward to a training experience shaped by initiative and hands-on projects. A particular highlight from the past year was the self-directed construction of a pinball machine. From concept to execution, apprentices from product design, electronics, mechatronics and metalworking were actively involved. The finished machine, built in technotrans design, was showcased at the company’s stand at the career orientation fair (BOM) in Warendorf, where it proved popular with visiting students.

“Projects like the pinball machine are an excellent example of how we inspire our apprentices and convey learning content in a practical way,” says Anna-Lena Freese, Head of Vocational Training at technotrans. “The apprentices not only had great fun implementing their own ideas but also gained valuable technical experience through teamwork.” This approach—combining learning with practical relevance—runs throughout the entire training programme. In coordination with their trainers, the apprentices regularly choose projects that have a direct application within the company. Examples include the development of an automatic hose and thread cutter, a conveyor belt system, and a saw stop with linear axis for production.

Personal and digital recruitment

To ensure continued success in filling training positions, technotrans relies on a mix of analogue and digital recruitment activities. Close partnerships with local schools—such as offering application training and taking part in education fairs—remain a key component. At the same time, the company’s online presence has proven highly effective. Notably, the TikTok channel run by the apprentices themselves has become the most wide-reaching recruitment tool, featuring humorous videos—including one post that attracted 1.6 million views.

While the new cohort embarks on their training, technotrans is already looking ahead: the application phase for apprenticeships starting in 2026 is now under way. Prospective candidates can already apply for a career start in the coming year.
