Monaco/Vire, April 21, 2017 – MECAPLAST group with nearly 6,000 employees and a turnover of EUR 734 million (2015) is one of Europe's leading automotive suppliers. The company designs, develops and manufactures parts and complete systems made of plastic, textile fabrics and metals on a global scale for nearly all major automobile manufacturers. For the production in Vire, the Monegasque company relies on a spray lubrication system made by technotrans AG. After one year, the partners evaluate their experience. The result: the expectations in terms of potential efficiency and quality improvements have been clearly exceeded.
The MECAPLAST group, which was founded in 1955, is continuously looking for ways to improve the production process, explains Andy Ragougneau, process engineer at the French supplier. This is why, one year ago, he decided in favour of the airless spray.xact spray lubrication system by technotrans AG.
Both companies jointly determined the exact requirements and optimum solution, explains Pascal Dauriac, Managing Director of technotrans France: "We strive to develop pragmatic solutions that are perfectly adapted to the specific requirements of our customers." In his view, the lubrication system used at MECAPLAST did not represent the current state of the art. technotrans was able to convince Andy Ragougneau to give the spray.xact spray lubrication system a try.
Without mist and compressed air
Since the spray lubrication system made by technotrans does not require any compressed air and instead uses nozzles with a special design to ensure the highly precise application of the oil, oil mist in the production area in Vire is a thing of the past. An exhaust system is no longer needed. In addition, the new spray lubrication system, which enables a particularly fine adjustment, requires considerably fewer cleaning cycles. All of these features ensure the high economic efficiency of the low-wear and low-maintenance system. "The control of the system is also much easier and more precise," says Pascal Dauriac. Since the system can be programmed via a colour touchscreen, the optimum nozzles and perfectly adapted dosing quantities can be selected for every single production cycle.
After a trial period of one year, MECAPLAST is absolutely delighted that the system fulfils the agreed specifications with an outstanding level of reliability. The reduced oil application alone enabled the supplier to reduce the associated costs by 30% during the first months. "Our systems offer advantages in numerous areas for our customers: sustainability, economic efficiency and health and safety improvements," summarises Pascal Dauriac.
