Efficient and Future-Proof: technotrans showcases intelligent Thermal Management for Plastics Processing

• Key topics: energy efficiency, natural refrigerants, and eligible cooling and temperature control systems

• Live injection moulding demonstration highlights the precision and performance of technotrans and enesty solutions

• Portfolio expansion: new temperature control unit in the teco ci series

At this year's K trade fair in Düsseldorf, technotrans, together with enesty, will presnet its comprehensive solution expertise for plastics processing. The highlight of the exhibition is a complex production cell centred around a Sumitomo Demag injection moulding machine. Here, the thermal management specialist will demonstrate live the intelligent interaction of temperature control, cooling, and water distribution in the production of a product made from sophisticated bio-based plastic. Other focal points include energy-efficient solutions using the natural refrigerant propane (R290) and the introduction of a performance upgrade in the teco ci temperature control unit series.

“Our core competence lies in understanding the specific challenges of our customers and developing tailored, cost-effective solutions,” says Nicolai Küls, Managing Director of technotrans solutions GmbH. “Visitors to the technotrans stand can experience first-hand how our systems enhance process stability, reduce energy consumption, and ensure consistently high product quality in demanding applications.”

Solution expertise in a live demonstration

At the heart of the exhibition is a production cell where a thermal cup is manufactured from a thermally sensitive, bio-based copolyester using a Sumitomo Demag injection moulding machine. This application is a prime example of a solution precisely tailored to the process: cooling of the mould and feed zone is handled by a teco cw 25 cold water temperature control unit using the environmentally friendly refrigerant propane (R290). Precise mould temperature control is provided by two energy-efficient teco ci eco units, equipped with the innovative Pump Efficiency Module (PEM) – an intelligent speed control system that adjusts energy consumption to demand. Optimal distribution of the tempered water to the individual mould circuits is ensured by an orcinus water distribution system from partner enesty.

This precise temperature control is crucial for processing the demanding material reliably, ensuring consistently high component quality, and minimising waste. Central control of all components is managed via the injection moulding machine using OPC UA.

Sustainable cooling technology and comprehensive consultancy

Another key topic is the use of natural refrigerants in light of the tightening F-gas regulation. technotrans will showcase its kws chillers, which operate with propane (R290), helping users to produce in a legally compliant manner over the long term and significantly reduce their carbon footprint. technotrans emphasises its role as a holistic partner: since central cooling systems using natural refrigerants are eligible for subsidies of up to 45 percent in Germany through BAFA, the company offers comprehensive funding consultancy. This includes detailed project studies and transparent calculations of CO savings.

Holistic energy concepts instead of standalone solutions

technotrans’ approach goes far beyond individual machines. The kws series is available not only as a chiller but also as a highly efficient heat pump, enabling the active use of waste heat for heating processes. As part of a comprehensive concept, technotrans analyses the entire energy balance and designs a customised system solution. This may include the intelligent integration of free coolers to achieve significant energy savings during cooler months or the use of process waste heat to heat buildings, replacing fossil fuels and further reducing operating costs.

Targeted portfolio expansion

As a new development, the company will present the prototype of the teco ci 160 eco 70 with 18 kW heating capacity. With this unit, technotrans expands the portfolio of its particularly energy-efficient eco.line series with a new high-performance variant, demonstrating its ongoing development to meet specific customer requirements.

“The pressure from rising energy costs and regulatory requirements will continue to grow. That’s why there are tremendous opportunities for those who invest in energy-efficient systems now,” says Fabian Heuel, Division Manager Sales and member of the Executive Board of technotrans solutions GmbH. “We support our customers as a strategic partner who not only provides the technology but also guides them through this transformation – from initial consultation to the design tf holistic energy network systems.”

technotrans will exhibit at K 2025 in Düsseldorf from 8 to 15 October in Hall 10, booth H23.
