“It would have been madness to buy a Speedmaster XL 75-10-P press and not invest in a technotrans ink.trac bulk ink system,” says Martin Lett Junior, sales and marketing director of Marstan Press.
Production director Tony Chapman concurs: “The press runs at 15,000sph with eight minute makereadies. Eliminating tins and cartridges improves our productivity further. It frees operators to get on with other tasks because there are no cartridge changes or topping up of ink ducts and minimal maintenance.”
The other key issue for the Bexleyheath company is that it fits well with their environmental credentials, eliminating cartridge disposal and ink remnant waste. Marstan Press is not only ISO 14001 certified but has recently secured a Bexley Business Award as the Best Green Company.
The technotrans' ink pumps deliver Heidelberg Saphira inks from 200 litre barrels to the press. Buying ink in bulk is a more cost-effective method of purchase and the barrels are quickly and easily replaced.
The ink.trac system is almost plug and play, combining the bulk tanks, pipework, electricity, compressed air and ink to provide a high productivity and easy to use system.
“The installation of the inking system took just 48 hours,” says Martin Lett Jnr. “It was quick, simple, neat and tidy and technotrans worked round us to minimise our downtime.”
This is not the company’s first experience with technotrans. It has used the company’s water treatment and temperature control systems on presses previously so it knows the service and back up is trustworthy.
Marstan Press handles work from across the UK, operating a 24/6 service, and it offers a high quality and responsive service.
