Social commitment in our region: On 6 September, 20 technotrans trainees once again participated in our non-profit Social Day event. Equipped with paint brushes, paint and gloves, our highly motivated employees renovated two playgrounds and a fitness trail at the Sassenberg company location. This is the third time that technotrans trainees have participated in the project initiated by IHK Nord Westfalen under the framework of the "In|du|strie – Gemeinsam. Zukunft. Leben" acceptance campaign.

After their active contribution and the positive feedback over the last two years, the newest members of the technotrans SE family once again participated in the Social Day event under the patronage of IHK Nord Westfalen in September. "We are very pleased that our trainees show such a high level of volunteer commitment, especially as it was for the benefit of our region. technotrans is always more than willing to support these kinds of projects," explains Tina Wegmeth, human resources officer at technotrans.

Like last year, the trainees renovated playgrounds in and around Sassenberg and applied a fresh coat of paint to slides, swings and seesaws. In addition, they also refurbished a fitness trail.

Trainees show a high level of personal initiative
The trainees took the planning and execution of the Social Day event into their own hands. They took care of everything – from the initial contact with the Sassenberg city council to select the various projects up to the organisation of a joint lunch to finish off the event. The IHK only specified the date for the annual campaign. "Our trainees are always very eager to participate in this project. At the same time, they learn to work independently and organise things on their own. As such, the Social Day event is an excellent complement to their traineeship," explains Wegmeth. This is why technotrans releases its trainees from work so that they can participate in the programme.

To finish off the successful event, the employees met for a joint lunch on the company's premises where they talked about their experience. "Everybody was very happy. We had been looking forward to the Social Day event for quite some time and were ready to go. We are already making plans for next year," says Pia Buck, the trainee who was responsible for the organisation of the Social Day event at technotrans.

Boosting the image of the industry
The Social Day event is part of the industry weeks that are coordinated by IHK Nord West as part of the annual acceptance campaign. Approximately 370 companies support the initiative which was founded seven years ago with the aim to improve the image of the industry among the public with a lasting effect. Numerous events have been planned to establish the industry as an important economic driver and attractive employer in the region and to emphasise its relevance for the everyday life of the population.
