technotrans presents high-performance battery cooling systems at the InnoTrans 2018

Cooling systems for tramways and locomotives / Qualified series devices and customised solutions / Continued expansion for the electromobility growth segment

technotrans AG presents battery cooling systems for railway engineering at this year’s InnoTrans in Berlin from 18 to 21 September. The main focus is on solutions for mobile energy storage devices and stationary systems. The Sassenberg-based fluid and cooling technology specialist can be found in hall 14.1 at stand 202 at the InnoTrans trade fair.

“For the safe and reliable operation of electric vehicles and energy storage devices, a constant, unvarying temperature profile is of vital importance. Our cooling technology for battery-operated tramways, locomotives and even regional trains with fuel cells guarantees that they deliver a high performance level long term,” says Christian Walczyk, head of sales of industrial solutions at technotrans. Visitors to the InnoTrans will be able to see user-specific cooling and temperature control systems for mobile energy storage devices such as lithium-ion batteries and supercapacitors and ultracapacitors. In addition, the company will also be showcasing stationary cooling systems for battery charging stations, converters and battery containers.

The technotrans portfolio includes the modular modular zeta.line cooling units featuring water-glycol circuits for optimum temperature conditions for the batteries to ensure long-term stability. The constant and stable temperature control of the energy storage systems as provided by the technotrans systems guarantees the process reliability of the temperature control system for a wide range of climatic conditions.

The zeta.line is particularly energy-efficient in operation: If the external climatic conditions are favourable, the system cools on a passive basis using the ambient air. In other cases the batteries are cooled on an active basis by means of a compressor. Thanks to its customised design, the use of modern communication technology and diagnostic systems, for example CAN bus, zeta.line becomes an integral part of the overall energy storage and traction system.

Compact solution for stationary solutions
Along with mobile devices, technotrans will also be presenting stationary cooling systems for charging stations, converters and battery containers which are for the most part based on customised water-glycol circuits. These systems enable compact integration into or onto existing housing designs and in the sound-optimised version they achieve a cooling capacity up to 900 kW. technotrans service personnel install these systems all around the world.
