technotrans subsidiary termotek opens new location in Baden-Baden

Three-fold increase in production capacity / Ten million euros invested / Pioneering production methods

Milestone for termotek GmbH: production at the new location of the technotrans subsidiary commenced today, Monday. The specialist for compact liquid cooling systems thus trebles its capacity in Baden-Baden, where the company has invested ten million euros over the past 14 months. With the new facility, termotek has laid the foundations for further growth based on lean, resource-saving production.

“Today is a big day for termotek and the entire technotrans Group”, declared termotek Managing Director Peter Hirsch at the production start of the new location in Baden-Baden. Since work commenced on the site in the Wörnersangewand Industry Park 14 months ago, the subsidiary of technotrans SE has invested ten million euros there.  “Our cutting-edge, resource-saving production operations mean we are paving the way for the further expansion of our business activities,” pointed out Hirsch, who is also on the technotrans SE Board of Management.

termotek’s commercial success in the globalised market for cooling systems rendered the relocation imperative. On the back of rapid business development in recent years, the former Rollfeld site had reached its capacity limits. Since 2011, termotek has increased its revenue and the number of employees almost three-fold.

“We want to build on this success story,” remarked Dirk Engel, Chief Executive Officer of technotrans SE. “Where better to do so than here in Baden-Baden, with a workforce that possesses extensive know-how of customer-specific cooling technology.”

In the Haueneberstein district of Baden-Baden, termotek is now building a long-term future for the company, which continues to expand rapidly: with around 3,600 square metres of production area and 1,800 square metres for offices, the company has trebled the amount of space at its disposal. “In terms of its size, infrastructure and scope for expansion, the new location gives us an ideal basis,” continued Engel.

New standards in production
termotek is also striking out in a new direction with the change of location: “In terms of flexibility, lean processes, optimised material flows and energy efficiency, we are setting a new benchmark,” emphasised Hirsch. Not merely for the technotrans Group, but also for other enterprises of a similar scale. The aim is that the lean building and manufacturing structure will safeguard the long-term competitiveness of the Baden-Baden location.

The complex, developed in partnership with the Karlsruhe planning office Vollack, was rigorously aligned with the new manufacturing strategy: “We adhered to the ‘Form Follows Function’ maxim,” added Hirsch. Cutting-edge, innovative and highly resource-saving building services and process engineering is technologically at the heart of the building.

“The new building and the way it streamlines the production process in the direction of lean production are also a statement of our ambitions as a leading technology provider for compact liquid cooling systems,” explained Hirsch. The technotrans Group intends to gradually roll out the approach trialled here across the entire Group of companies.
