termotek presents energy-efficient cooling systems with a high power density

  • Low-vibration 3RU 19" plug-in cooling unit
  • Compact 4RU cooling system with a double-chamber compressor and 750 W refrigeration capacity
  • Flexible modular cooling system for custom requirements

termotek GmbH presents several cooling systems for laser applications in the industrial and medical sector at this year's Laser World trade fair. The presentation includes two compact 19" plug-in cooling units of 3 and 4 rack units, respectively, one modular cooling system that can be flexibly customised and the proven omega.eco process chiller. termotek systems stand out due to their high power density and energy efficiency. Thanks to their compact dimensions, they are suitable for numerous applications.

"Our products respond to the current trends in the laser segment, namely an increasing demand for more power offered by systems with a small form factor and the need for an optimum, low-noise operation of the systems," says Peter Hirsch, managing director of termotek. For the company specialised in compact liquid cooling systems, the Laser World trade fair is one of the most important platforms for the presentation of technological innovations.

This year, the company is clearly focusing on key factors like power density and flexibility for the user. The compact 19" plug-in cooling units with three rack units (RU) and a cooling capacity of 360 W will be presented for the very first time in Munich. The liquid cooling system has a particularly low noise and vibration level thanks to an innovative, horizontally arranged speed-controlled mini-compressor, making the system an interesting alternative to Peltier-based systems. On the laser market, termotek is the first manufacturer using this type of compressor.

The new cooling solution automatically adapts to the ambient temperature
To round off the product spectrum, termotek also presents a new cooling unit with a speed-controlled double-chamber compressor with four rack units and a maximum cooling capacity of 780 W at the Laser World trade fair. This compressor is able to adapt its cooling capacity to the environmental conditions at the location of use. Like the 3RU plug-in cooling unit, this cooling solution is also rated for a 24 V low-voltage supply. This flexibility makes it particularly suitable for a wide range of different applications in the laser and medical sector.

In addition, visitors can expect to see an energy-efficient, modular cooling system with a cooling capacity of up to 4.5 kW at the trade fair stand. All of the main components of the system are speed-controlled and designed as individual modules that can be flexibly combined for different applications. These modular elements lead to a high level of technical flexibility combined with a standardised exterior. As a result, elements such as the refrigeration system or pump module, the condenser, compressor or even components of the water management system can be replaced quickly and in a demand-oriented manner without changing the overall design of the system.

"As far as the large solid-state or CO2 lasers are concerned, we will present the well-established omega.eco liquid cooling system with a cooling capacity between 10 and 60 kW. Thanks to its highly efficient technology, this system enables substantial energy savings of up to 30% during operation, thereby already fulfilling the strict requirements of the second tier of the ecodesign directive concerning the energy efficiency of process chillers as per EU 2016/2281, which will come into effect in 2021," says Hirsch. Depending on the ambient temperature, the omega.eco automatically adjusts the optimum operating point of the system in terms of its energy efficiency, thereby saving energy costs. Another striking feature of the omega.eco system is its high level of operational reliability. Additional sensor systems in the refrigeration circuit as well as in the liquid circuit ensure continuous process monitoring. The process data can be transferred to a customer-provided, superordinate control system via various standard interfaces.
