technotrans SE exhibits at Formnext, the world’s leading trade fair for additive production, for the first time. On exhibition from the technotrans group are the cooling system of the mako series and the 19-inch plug-in cooling unit, compact solutions for precise temperature control which are tailored to the specific requirements of additive production. The temperature control systems stand out due to their high process reliability, precision and energy efficiency. By participating, technotrans is looking to position itself as a competent system partner for manufacturers and integrators in this sector.

“In the field of additive production, ever more sophisticated systems are coming to be used these days. These require correspondingly high-performance thermal management. We see an opportunity here for us to provide the sector with support with our coolers,” explains Ingo Gdanitz, Business Development Manager at technotrans. For the company the Formnext is one of the biggest trade fairs in this sector, he says, making it one of the most important platforms for showcasing the compact cooling systems.

The focus of the trade fair appearance for technotrans is on users which use the laser fusion process. The laser systems require effective cooling for taking off the waste heat and temperature control systems for preventing loss of precision due to heat expansion. This is where the specialist in cooling, temperature control and filtration therefore sees the greatest potential. “We are looking to position ourselves in this sector as a system partner with advanced, application-specific products. The aim is to optimise the users’ complete systems – in terms of both performance and precision,” emphasises Gdanitz.

Reliable coolers for additive production
When it comes to additive production, technotrans essentially has two compact cooling systems in its product portfolio: Thanks to its reliability, ruggedness and precision, the mako cooler is ideal for industrial 3-D printing. In addition, it is also highly economical in terms of capital investment and operating costs and is characterised by particularly low noise and vibration levels. The 19-inch plug-in cooling unit, thanks to an innovative horizontally arranged, speed-controlled mini-compressor, is also very quiet and easy to integrate in mounting racks.

Cooling solution for hybrid production
Furthermore, visitors can also find out about the toolsmart on the trade fair stand. This cooling solution is ideal for hybrid production, which involves both additive production and post-processing by machining. The toolsmart provides support for the process in the additive part in the form of laser cooling and the machining part in the form of the cooling and filtration of the cooling lubricant. The system can be individually configured to the requirements of each specific application.
