Economically efficient and sustainable: technotrans presents a pioneering laser cooling solution

  • New laser cooling concepts based on Peltier elements
  • ECOtec series with a considerably reduced refrigerant consumption
  • termotek's first trade fair participation under the technotrans umbrella brand

Medical devices, semiconductor production or cutting and welding applications: technotrans will presents its new cooling systems for a wide range of laser applications at this year's LASER World of PHOTONICS. The focus is on innovative concepts with Peltier elements and natural refrigerants. In addition, the specialist for thermal management solutions will also showcase its industrial add-on cooler of the new ECOtec series as well as a revised version of the compact 19" rack-mount coolers. The over-arching objective is to increase their customers' efficiency and sustainability.

"technotrans covers all of the aspects of an efficient and sustainable laser cooling solution," says Ingo Gdanitz, Business Development Manager at technotrans. "Thanks to the optimal adaptation to the laser cycle, our systems enable a highly dynamic control response and outstanding accuracy." For the users, this results in several advantages at once: production and application flexibility combined with low operating costs and high energy efficiency.

Refrigerant consumption reduction by up to 50%

With this in mind, the company has consistently refined its cooling concepts. Diode lasers for medical applications, EUV lasers for the production of semiconductors or fibre and CO2 lasers for industrial metal-working applications: technotrans offers highly customised systems in line with very specific customer requirements, thereby enabling economically efficient processes. However, there is even more to it, as Gdanitz explains: "Our cooling systems ensure a high level of process stability, operating cost improvements and a reduced carbon footprint." As a result, it is only natural that technotrans equips its cooling systems with Peltier elements and natural refrigerants.

In addition, the company from Sassenberg will also present its new ECOtec cooler series. Compared to conventional solutions, this series stands out due to the fact that it only needs approximately 50% of the usual refrigerant quantity. Depending on the ambient temperature, the unit automatically adjusts the optimum operating point of the complete system in terms of its energy efficiency. The result: cost savings and a reduced carbon footprint.

Modular liquid cooling system with a high level of energy efficiency

With the new generation of the compact 19" rack-mount cooler, technotrans presents a modular liquid cooling system with 3 and 4 RU (rack units). It is characterised by its high power density and energy efficiency. Thanks to a speed-controlled compressor, the system has a particularly low noise and vibration level.

At its trade fair stand, technotrans offers insights into specific applications, for example the thermal management of laser systems for minimally invasive medical treatments, the cooling of laser systems during the production of semiconductors and the temperature control of sophisticated fibre lasers. The latter are a strong trend throughout the industry. Due to their high intensity, an appropriate cooling solution is more important than ever. With the xtend series of coolers, technotrans covers the ever increasing requirements without requiring any additional space.

For the first time, former termotek GmbH, which has been fully integrated into technotrans systems GmbH after a change of name at the beginning of this month, will present itself under the technotrans umbrella brand. "Due to our strong group of companies, our extensive experience and our financial strength, we are a reliable and strong partner for the development of innovative laser systems – even more so in times of supply shortages and rising component prices," says Denis Roessel, Head of Sales at technotrans systems. The cooling expertise of the two technotrans group companies has been successfully merged.
