zeta.rail

Reliable battery cooling solution for rail vehicles

There is no electromobility without cooling! The temperature is the decisive factor when it comes to the operation and service life of lithium-ion batteries for rail vehicles. With the zeta.rail series, technotrans offers an efficient thermal management solution which fulfils the specific requirements of a wide range of battery-operated trains and trams. Depending on the available space, required cooling capacity, ambient temperature and other factors, technotrans develops bespoke and particularly energy-saving solutions based on the zeta.rail series. The system automatically decides whether the batteries need to be cooled or heated, depending on the specified target temperature of the batteries.

If the external climatic conditions are particularly favourable, the system cools on a passive basis using the ambient air. In other cases, the batteries are cooled on an active basis by means of a compressor. Thanks to their water-glycol-circuits, the use of state-of-the-art communications technology and diagnostic systems, e.g. CAN bus, the zeta.rail systems ensure optimal operating temperatures at all times.

In addition to the battery, the zeta.rail system can also cool other components (motors, power electronics) installed in the rail vehicles. The models of the zeta.rail series also offer ideal temperature management solutions for the cooling of fuel cells of rail vehicles.
